Il Santo Padre Benedetto XVI ha nominato Sotto-Segretario del Pontificio Consiglio per il Dialogo Interreligioso il Rev.do Indunil Janakaratne KODITHUWAKKU KANKANAMALAGE, del clero della diocesi di Badulla (Sri Lanka), Docente presso la Facoltà di Missiologia della Pontificia Università Urbaniana.

THE EVANGELIZATION IN AFRICA: After the 1994 Synod

Some elements on the scope of evangelizzation Africa:

1. The evangelization to those who have not recieved the Gospel (spreading of the Gospel to the african culture - incarnation of faith to the african culture)

2. The pastoral care for the members of the Church
3. The testimony of the christian life which is the necessary implication for our faith
4, To quarantee the following values:
*hope
*joy
*peace
*love
*unity and harmony

Evangelization is intended for the growth of christianity in Africa so as to be bold enough to respond adequately to its problems.There is a call for african churches to take responsibilty for inculturation of christianity in the whole continent. In this case, the contemporary african theologians are so much concerned about the question of inculturation in the continent. Their concern is from the phenomenon whereby some other nations in the continent go against the human rights, that is, not taking into consideration the value of human dignity.

DAILY MEDITATION CORNER (Saterday 15/10/2011

HUMILITY: Have you ever meditated on the Christian humility and Christ's Humility? St. Paul exhorts us: "Do nothing from selfishness or conceit, but in humility count others better than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men". (Phil. 2,3-) Please keep this in mind for the whole day and enrich your spiritual life. God bless and keep you in the shadow of His wings.

34th Sunday in Ordinary Time: Gospel (Mt. 25:31-46)

CHRIST THE KING. Jesus said to his disciples:? When the Son of Man comes in his glory, escorted by all the angels, then he will take his seat on his throne of glory. All the nations will be assembled before him and he will separate men one from another as the shepherd separates sheep from goats. He will place the sheep on his right hand and the goats on his left. Then the king will say to those on his right hand, "come, you whom my Father has blessed, take for your heritage the kingdom prepared for you since the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food; I was thirsty and you gave me drink; I was a stranger and you made me welcome; naked and you clothed me, sick and you visited me, in prison and you came to see me." Then the virtuous will say to him in reply , "Lord when did we see you hungry and feed you; or thirsty and give you drink? When did we see you a stranger and make you welcome; naked and clothe you ; sick or in prison and go to see you?" And the King will answer, "I tell you solemnly, in so far as you did this to one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did it to me." Next he will say to those on his left hand, "Go away from me, with your curse upon you , to the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you never gave me food; I was thirsty and you never gave me anything to drink; I was a stranger and you never made me welcome, naked and you never clothed me, sick and in prison and you never visited me." Then it will be their turn to ask, "Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty, a stranger or naked, sick or in prison, and did not come to your help?" Then he will answer, "I tell you solemnly, in so far as you neglected to do this to one of the least of these, you neglected to do it to me." And they will go away to eternal punishment, and the virtuous to eternal life.

31th Sunday in Ordinary Time: Gospel Matthew 23,1-12

Addressing the people and his disciples,'the scribes and the Pharisees occupy the chair of Moses. You must therefore do what they tell you and listen to what they say; but do not be guided to what they do: since they do not practice what they preach. They tie up heavy burdens and lay them on men's shoulders, but will they lift a finger to move them? Not they! Everything they do is to attract attention, like wearing broader phylacteries and longer tassels, like wanting to take the place of honour at banquets and the front seats in the synagogues, being greeted obsequiously in the market squares and having people call them Rabbi. 'You however, must not allow youselves to be called Rabbi, since you have only one Master, and you are all brothers. You must call no one on earth your father, since you have only one Father, and he is in heaven. Nor must you allow yourselves to be called teachers, for you have only one Teacher, the Christ. The greatest among you must be the servant. Anyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and anyone who humbles himself will be exalted.'
